Platoon and Bling Flea Market

I bought some vintage Lanvin heels and a YSL dogtooth jacket at this vintage flea market I went to the other week.  It was in a bar in Gangnam, Seoul called Platoon Kunsthalle, which is constructed from cargo units.  I got my picture taken for some Korean street style magazine/ website feature while I was there but I doubt they'll use it as I imagine I looked awful smiling tightly while awkwardly clutching my wares.

The next one is on this Saturday.  Go go go.

Busy Busy

I've been neglecting this 'ere blog in favour of my new project Chincha!?, which I've already mentioned in a previous post.  It's going exceedingly well, rather like a tumultuous love affair.  I may even ask it to marry me.

I've also been away over different parts of Korea, including the East Coast (mothertruckerrrrs) and to a gorgeous river situated slightly more South than I'm based, where a lot of people got naked on my birthday and sat on a rock.

All in all I'm having a swell time and will leave you with a random photo dump which pretty much sums up my life at the moment.

The view of Seoul, racist pyjamas, Jenny Humphreys aka whatsherface from The Pretty Reckless, Party Horse, Party Horse's guitarists shoes and a beautifully woven reminder of my roots.

(P.S, since I'm on a Gossip Girl vein, I'm going to leave you with an xoxo.)

Jeffrey Lewis

One of my favourite lyricists, Jeffrey Lewis, is in Seoul tonight.  Gonna get head-nodding in that hipster way (with a not-so-hipster lopsided drunken grin on my face) to his song about ramyen.

The Final Dispatch

Check out this short film my friend Finn (yeah, he has the best name ever.  No it's not short for anything) made in a workshop with Justin Kerrigan, the director of Human Traffic.  All the Cardiff  iconography in the background makes me feel nostalgic for my city, plus I completely dig the music he's chosen (Radiohead), and the sharp little twist at the end.  Cool film, eh?

Nick Knight

I watched this mini film by Vice Style from the Visionaries series thinking it was going to be a basic piece promoting Nick Knight, legendary photographer and creator of the revolutionary website SHOWstudio. Which is fine because Nick Knight is a talented dude; you won’t need to pay attention to be blown away by the photographic and videographic artwork that the film is punctuated with. Really though, this video is more of a rundown of the history of fashion, with a highly articulate emphasis on what’s happening at the present moment and how this relates to the rest of the world.

If you know nothing about fashion then watch this video to learn about the social, economic and political ideas entangled within that industry you may have passed off as being merely shallow and degenerate.

Ascribing meaning to everything is something you can and should do.  Every part of culture should be given meaning.  If nothing had meaning, then what would be the point?

Also, hope you all haven't been affected too much by these shitty riots.

Twins

I love Kirsten Dunst. We've got the same tooth that sticks out and I've got an oversized blazer and some dotted leggings, just like she's wearing in this video.  I think this means we'll be best friends when we eventually meet.
