Not Another Self-Indulgent Hair Post

Ducked out of the Ombre look.  I didn't quite trust my new hairdresser so played it safe by getting highlights and cutting off all my layers.  I now have incredibly boring hair which only looks good when backcombed.  Unfortunately the indulgent nature of the Christmas period means I got carried away with the backcombing and am now wearing a bird's nest on my head.

Albeit in a very fetching shade of blonde.

I got some crimpers before Christmas so might just crimp the knots and see what happens.  Perhaps it will miraculously turn into Jessica Stam's hair?

P.s, I want her top.

Christmas...

...Has made me terribly lax with the posting.

I have:

eaten and drunk an immense amount.

been reacquainted with amazing old friends.

played ridiculous games with the family.

visited the snow laden and incredibly picturesque beacons.

It's been utterly lush.

Happy Christmas y'all. Hope it's been as good as mine.

Look What I Made

Writing in Spring

I can make online collages now.  Sweet.  I'm glad I have something to show for today's procrastinations (I don't think my now excellent knowledge of the Millenium Trilogy really counts).

The above items are what I ideally would have liked to have taken with me when I went travelling this year.

Instead I had to take practical items like a rucksack and a bikini.  I tried to take this really cool bright pink cuckoo clock I had just bought, but my friends wouldn't allow it.

*Sigh*

Ombre!

My hair is currently naturally attempting to channel the ‘ombre’ hair look that’s in vogue, but is doing it really badly.  The sunny hues it acquired on my South East Asia travels are growing out, giving it a two-tone effect a la Drew Barrymore.

Except in a very watered down way. (You could even say it's dishwatered down as it's such a dirty blonde colour right now).

I want to dye it a bright Nordic blonde and have it cut into Leigh Lezark’s asymmetric style but am worried about the upkeep.

  I'm no good at effort.

Apparently the best part about the ombre look is that to keep it looking good you only need to visit the hairdressers every six months for the upkeep.

So, I think I'll get that Nordic blonde colour on the ends and on a few face-framing strands, as soon as the snow clears and I can make it to the hairdressers.

I love the dip-dyed intense-colour effect seen above but in my post-teen age feel that I should probably embrace the trend in a more subtle way.  I dyed the ends of my hair pink when I was thirteen, and it did not look good.  I think I hid for the rest of the summer holidays and listened to Alanis Morissette's Jagged Little Pill on repeat.

Alexa Chung of course does ombre well, but I think that Rachel Bilson does it best.

It's not just about the colour, it's all about that dishevelled and unkempt effect too.

I'm going to be one of those people that takes photos to the hairdressers, more wanting to be the celebrity rather than just emulating their hair....

I might even post a picture if it goes well, or if it manages to turn my face into Alexa Chung's.

My Christmas Jumper

Managed to find the most disgusting Christmas Jumper.  In that 'it's so bad it's good' kind of way.

Or maybe it's just bad.

It isn't knitted so I've also had a lot of hassle from the Christmas Jumper Purists (aka the Xmas Nazis).

I wrote a guest blog post about it for Clic.  Here tis.
